Nelson County High School welcomed veterans to its annual Veterans Day program Tuesday morning, Nov. 11 in the school gymnasium.
In a moving presentation, cadets built a battlefield cross and explained the symbolic meanings of its components — an inverted rifle, helmet, dog tags and boots. The cross is used to honor a soldier killed in battle.
The playing of taps and a moment of silence were also a part of the program.
