Gallery: ‘Sixteen tons’ helps rock NCHS choral concert

The Nelson County High School Choir’s Fall Concert, Dec. 17, entitled “Pop, Rock and Soul,” highlighted popular songs of the 2000s, spirituals and holiday music. Groups performing included the Old Kentucky Home Middle School Wildcat Choir; County Chorale, an after-school ensemble featuring singers from all over the district; Show Club; and Cardinal Choirs.

'Sixteen Tons'

In back, Kaylee Masden, Michaela Sanders, Kaylee Morris, Katie Seaton and Anna Darling. “Sixteen Tons,” a song based on life in the coal mines of Muhlenberg County, Ky., was first recorded by Merle Travis in 1946.
