Gallery: FHES Dance Showcase: ‘Be Your Own Hero’

Every grade level performed for the Foster Heights Elementary School Dance Showcase, now a 16-year tradition. Led by music teacher Yvette Martin and physical education teacher Donnie Reid, every grade presented two dances. This year’s theme was “Be Your Own Hero.”

Kindergarten students danced to “Shake” by Mercy Me; first grade, “Eye of the Tiger”; second, “Fight Song”; third, “Final Countdown”; fourth, “Centuries”; and fifth, “Undefeated.”

All students also learned an additional song/dance called “Watch Me.” Every song was chosen to represent the “never give up,” “I can do anything” positive leadership attitude in keeping with this year’s school theme.

FHES third-graders Cole Girdley, left, and Ethan Rogers were in the thick of things as they performed to the song, “Watch Me,” during a Dance Showcase performance Dec. 17 at the school.
